Demonstration in Leuven on the 1^st of February 2026, in honor of World Galgo Day

Why?

On Sunday, the 1^st of February 2026, a silent parade will take place in the center of Leuven to raise awareness of the suffering of Spanish greyhounds and to demand an end to hunting with galgos and other breeds, following the example of many Spanish cities and other European cities.

Where?

We will meet at 13:15 at Ladeuzeplein. Paid parking is available under the square. After the group photo, we will depart promptly at 14:00 for about an hour at a slow pace. The parade will end at the starting point.

Be there!

This is a unique event, do not miss it. Bring as many dogs as possible, because the more dogs, the more attention! Feel free to bring banners with messages against the abuse of galgos and hunting with them, but please keep it clean.

Parking

Paid parking is available under the square at Ladeuzeplein. You can also park here and there around Ladeuzeplein, but please do so in accordance with the regulations.

General:

Everyone is provided with poop bags, so we do not receive any complaints afterwards!

Dogs must be kept on a leash. There are short sections where we must walk along the road. We must adhere to traffic regulations and walk on the sidewalk. We must not obstruct traffic or public transport in any way. Most of the routes are car-free or low traffic. Finally, we urge you to follow the route behind the organizers. We only have a permit for this route. The police will be checking.
