After a terrible and horrible start in their short dog life they all found their heaven on earth. Now they have exchanged it for the eternal dog paradise where they will faithfully wait for their master/mistress at the end of the rainbow bridge.

Raisa was born on the 1st of February 2009, adopted on the 22nd of January 2011, and passed away on the 31st of August 2023.
Dirk called you chocolate, we thought you were cinnamon. The veterinarian was convinced that you would find a golden basket with us. You were a cuddly dog, a lap dog, a survivor. To join us in the camper was the world for you, in the summer a cooling pad, in the winter a sleeping bag. You found your great love with our Polish greyhound Alvaro. Unfortunately, he passed away too soon, but you will meet again over the rainbow bridge in the eternal green pastures where you can run together forever You were a gourmet, a fussy eater, but spaghetti was your favorite dish. You were everyone’s friend, but you were daddy’s best friend. The single seat was your preferred sofa, you wined until the other dogs got out of it and you could sit down on your blanket.
You have given us many years of joy and love; we had good and bad moments but we managed together. Now the suffering is in your eyes, and we wanted to end it for you.
Rest in peace dear Raisa, we will never forget you, you will be forever in our heart.

Our dear Zimba passed away on Monday the 21st of August 2023.
Early in the afternoon, he unexpectedly fell asleep forever in his donut…probably he had a cardiac arrest. We had the privilege to love him for 6 years…and to give him the most beautiful years of his life. This is a comfort to us; his ashes will be held forever in a special place.
Kind regards,
Hilde Meurs and Johan Van Dyck
On the 9th of July 2011 we adopted via GINB a beautiful greyhound named White. He was just 2 years old and soon he became my best friend. He got a new name, Amaury, a golden basket and two Newfoundlander friends.
Amaury was a dream dog, he learned fast, and he could go everywhere with us. He was jumping for joy to take walks and he could sigh blissfully when on a rainy day we did not get out of the sofa.
On the 22nd of June we celebrated his 14th birthday, but on the 14th of August we said goodbye with a heavy heart. I am grateful for the 12 beautiful years together with my wonderful friend thanks to you.
I wanted to inform you and I would like to thank you for the beautiful work you are doing.
Warm regards.

Dat je mij liet gaan
want ik had zo een pijn
lk weet hoe moeilijk
dat geweest moest zijn.
Je kunt mij niet missen
en hebt nu verdriet,
maar je deed het juiste
vergeet dat nou niet.
Mijn leven op aarde
is nu helaas voorbij,
maar je deed het wel
uit liefde voor mij.
Dankjewel hiervoor
ik rust nu zacht
en vergeet nooit
dat ik op je wacht.

On the 29th of July 2023 my dearest Donna passed away. She was a re-adoption and lived with me for 6 years. She was 12 years old. Due to severe arthrosis of her hind legs which made moving and walking difficult she was a “sofa” dog for quite some time already. Until that night she could not get up anymore. We decided to end her suffering, which is always a very difficult decision. We will NEVER get used to having to say farewell! Fortunately, re-adoption Nuria is here to comfort me.

In the presence of our dear Anne, our Emma peacefully and serenely passed away on the sofa in our house with her head on my lap. She let it all happen. She herself was at peace with it.
Our sorrow and pain for her loss are immense. She leaves a great emptiness. She was extremely kind and soft and so beautiful.

With much regret we inform you that we had our beautiful Amelie euthanized yesterday. She was almost 14 years old, and she kept us company for more than 11 years.
She was in many ways the perfect dog. It was a unique experience having been able to take care of this gorgeous dog for more than 11 years. It is time to mourn now.

Fredje, you were such a kind dog. Because Zoë was mourning for the loss of Chula and did not want to do anything anymore, we decided to adopt a new galgo. We saw your photo and you were staying with Christel in Hof Rosa Canina. You were returned because your owner did not have time for you anymore. He had a new girlfriend???
We and certainly Zoë were very happy with you. You entered the house, looked around and put yourself on the sofa and you felt at home immediately, your forever home. You were also a good watchdog and my husband’s sweetheart. And Zoë became again the frivolous dog that she was before. When you needed a caress, you told us. You put your paw on our lap until you got our attention and the necessary caresses.
Be well up there and give our regards to your boss and the other dogs.

In Memoriam Jupiter (°2013-2023)
On the 21st of April 2023 I had to say farewell to my dear galgoboy “Juppie”. He was a re-adoption of 5 years old and adopted by me in September 2018.
Since his life in Spain, he had a metal plate in his left front leg due to a paw facture. Once in Belgium the metal had to be removed because of a serious infection. The fracture did not heal and again a metal plate was installed and for many years he could walk and run well.
This year in April he again had an infection and after many years the metal was repelled resulting in a lot of pain and a thick swollen paw including severe arthrosis. In consultation with the veterinarian the only possibility was to let him sleep as no other option would give him a better life. In general, he was still in good health and therefore it was a terrible decision. He was only 10 years old. I miss this sweetheart immensely! Juppie run free without pain together with your friends up there, Mara, Tilia, Toby, Sol, Mira and Piraatje.

DUENDE was adopted when he was 3 years old, and he was the latest addition to our pack. He was always a playful dog with his toys. He was very social with the other dogs in the house. But on the 8th of April disaster struck due to a tightness in his spine he suddenly fell through his hind legs and because of the paralysis he could not stand up anymore. We had to make a tough decision to let him go. After 7 beautiful years of fun and love we said farewell to Duende, and we released him from his misery.

On the 2nd of March 2023 my senior re-adoptive galgo boy “Piraatje”, left peacefully for the rainbow bridge. He arrived in my home on the 20th of July 2021 from the West-Flanders region, he was almost 14 years old then. Piraatje was my sweetest galgo ever, he was very kind for my other dogs and for visiting dogs and those who spent a few days in my house. He was the “grandfather” of my pack.
Piraatje, I have loved you so much in the short period of time that we could spend together. I will miss your kind snout immensely! For ever a warm place in my heart….

I herewith want to inform you that on Thursday last week, the 1st of December, my dearest Suzy passed away. She arrived in our family on the 19th of June 2020. She was a 9-year-old senior whom we welcomed with open arms. Unfortunately, she could only stay with us for a short time. Kidney failure killed her.
Despite the relatively short time, compared to her predecessors, she leaves a deep impression and a great emptiness. We had a special bond, Suzy, and me. An instant connection. We understood each other without words. One look, a touch or a feeling was enough. She is and was very special.
Suzy will be missed by our family. Meanwhile she has been cremated and in another way, she is back home with her family. Just like the other galgo angels we will never forget her.
Mireille, thank you for everything.
Thanks for letting Suzy be part of our family.

Lieve lieve Tess,
Mama, papa

Hélène, deceased on the 19th of August 2022
After 13,5 years on this earth (born in March 2009) of which 11 years with me (adoption on the 19th of November 2011), my dear Leentje (Hélène) quietly left to the dog heaven, to her sisters who preceded her. She has known all of them, Lina, Estelle, Maïté and Eloise, they will certainly welcome her up there.
I let her go, in my arms, her backpack filled with all the love and gratitude that I feel and felt for her during all these beautiful, valuable years. She was everything to me and so much more and she gave me here unconditional love and gratitude back twice in all modesty.
Leentje, my sweet dog child, you will always be deep in my heart, forever and ever!
Heartbroken but grateful that you could be with us!

Tonight, after more than 15 years, we had to say farewell to our last greyhound.
Kyrah, at first an extremely shy puppy of 3 months old, has grown into our pack’s clown.
She was always ready to play, always ready to steal food.
She became an old, gray lady whom we had to let go with pain in our heart.
Sleep softly dear girl, over the rainbow bridge a whole pack is waiting for you…

Our dear Nalu, our secondhand Rose, our tripping girl, our toddler, our “I am always lying in someone’s neighborhood”, our sweet doll… got her angel wings and left for the rainbow… We will miss her, but we are grateful that she came our way and that she let us enjoy her warm character for 6,5 years. Run free, dear Nalu.

You arrived early in the Spring. At that time, we lived in Ghent, and you immediately felt at home. Shortly afterwards we moved to the seaside. There you even enjoyed life more with walking and playing on the beach. Everybody in our neighborhood knew you. You were really a sweet and kind dog for both adults and children. It seemed as if you had wiped away your past forever. “Without hard feelings”. It was good to have you at home. But unfortunately, your health got more fragile, you turned 16 in May. The veterinary visits became more frequent but apparently every time you seemed to get better. Until the 20th of July when we realized that you could not go on and we had to make a difficult and painful decision. You left softly to your friends, and we were left behind with only memories of 8 beautiful years.
Sleep in peace dear Alexia.

With a heavy heart I send this mail to you.
We want to let you know that on Friday last week we decided to let our dear Pelota put to sleep.
For a while she had health problems and no matter what we tried she did not get better.
She was an important member of our family and she saw our family grow. She saw 3 beautiful children being born, she joined us on vacations, and she was overwhelmed with love and hugs.
She was always there for us, and we were there for her till the end. We could spare her the worst pain but nevertheless it hurts no less in our hearts.
The lack is great and the emptiness she leaves even greater.
Forever in our hearts.
Love.

I must report the sad news that my Brisa passed away.
She was my special cuddly girl, my walk mate with the 2 chihuahuas and my comfort in difficult days. Together with the others, after a divorce, she moved with me, but it was fine because we were together. She had lymph node cancer in her neck, one side was operated, but after a short time the other side was affected and on top of it, she had heart murmur. I adopted her when she was 8 years old, and she could stay with me for about 7 years. The last cortisone injection to make her feel better had worn off much too quickly. We still had 2 magical days in the end though, then it was over.
I am so grateful that I could

With a lot of sadness, we must inform you that our faithful four-legged Duke passed away.
The emptiness is immense. He was such a loyal and affectionate family member.
He really loved to lie down in his own little sofa. He also could enjoy people visiting and
giving him extra attention. He changed from a rather shy dog who did not like men, into a dog enjoying everyone’s attention. We will miss him very much, but we are happy that we were able to love him for more than 10 years because he absolutely deserved it. Our darling!

With great sadness we inform you that Lance (Lancelot) passed away. He was born on the 12th of March 2009 and died on the 23rd of March 2022. We could adopt him on the 17th of September 2011.
He made our family complete with his kind snout and his pleasant tripping in the house. We enjoyed him very much. He has fought to the end but in vain. He died due to heart failure for which he was being treated already for more than 2 years. We miss him in everything we do, and it is immensely quiet in our house. We miss his kind snout always waiting for us, he took everyone into his heart. We can continue to tell how sweet he was and what a lovely character he had. How he “saved” my oldest daughter with one glance from her fear of dogs, how he loved to cuddle on a blanket, how he loved to walk…
It is a grieving process that we must go through, and it will take time.
We are very grateful that you saved him in Spain and that we were able to enjoy 11 beautiful years together. He will be missed immensely.
Thank you for letting us adopt such a beautiful and sweet darling. He will be forever in our heart.

See you, Jupiter.
It was not supposed to be.
After many years of struggling with the best medication, the Leishmania finally won by kidney failure. You were only 8 years old.
You arrived in my home in July 2016, after the adopter had let you run away on the adoption day, at that time in Aalter in the Dog school The Pillowrijn – and after the entire GINB organization together with The Pillowrijn could find you 1,5 weeks later. You were enjoying yourself in the middle of the cornfields with the many fresh rabbits.
You were a real hunter. But you could not resist eating preys immediately, which probably was the reason for your quick dismissal in Spain. But at the same time this was your luck, it brought you to a better life in Belgium. At first you were just sheltering here to recover from your adventure but finally you stayed permanently.
You were a heartbreaker. Especially towards the ladies. You came silently closer to put your beautiful Galgo head softly in their hands to be hugged.
We will meet again. Have fun beyond the rainbow bridge with all those who have gone before you.
Run free, dear Jupiter.
